JULIA GLEICH : WORK
Gleich's choreography has been commissioned by: Island Moving Company, Newport, RI, University of Northern Colorado-Greeley, University of California at Irvine, Arts on the Hill Dance Festival Jackson Hole, WY, Burklyn Ballet Theatre, VT. Since 2003 her and her company have been in summer residence as guests of Norte Maar, in Rouses Point, NY, and Gleich also directs a summer conservatory of dance and the company performs new work by Gleich.

Ms. Gleich is currently Head of Choreography for London Studio Centre, where she teaches choreography and composition and directs the annual Design for Dance project. She is on faculty at the LABAN Centre for Contemporary Dance in London. She has taught ballet and modern dance as a member of the dance faculty at Manhattanville College, Purchase, NY and at Broadway Dance Center, Norwalk Dance Academy, and is a regular master teacher for Burklyn Ballet Theatre and the National Association of Dance and Affiliated Artists. She has taught choreography and composition for Dance Plattsburgh, Burklyn Ballet Theatre and has co-taught with Ara Fitzgerald at Manhattanville College. She has been a discussion facilitator for Arts at University Settlement, and has attended workshops with Ririe-Woodbury, LIMS, The Field, and was an invited participant in workshop with Martha Myers. She has conducted workshops in Surrey, UK for college-level students and ran a ballet workshop for students of all ages for the Woking Dance Festival. At Molloy College, NY, she has taught future K-12 special education teachers to utilize movement and dance in the classroom. She offers special ballet classes to children at the Ricardo O'Gorman Garden and Center in Harlem. She is a panelist and adjudicator for the Queens Council on the Arts, a co-producer of Raw Impressions Dance Theatre, a member of Dance/USA. She has also served as a competition judge for NADAA 2000, 2001 in the northeast region. Gleich was a coordinator for "Sharing the Legacy," a national conference held in May 2002 at Hunter College. A member of CORPS de Ballet International, she has been a regular conference presenter on ballet pedagogy, specializing in contemporary perspectives on dance education. She served on the Board of Directors for the American Dance Guild.

Ms. Gleich was ballet mistress for the Utah Ballet, rehearsal assistant for Ballet West and on faculty at the University of Utah Ballet and Theatre Departments. She danced in regional ballet and modern dance companies in New York, New Jersey, Wisconsin, Wyoming, and Utah. Ms. Gleich studied with Alexandra Danilova, Robert Denvers, Felia Doubrovska, Attila Ficzere, Melissa Hayden, Maria Jones, Conrad Ludlow, Victoria Morgan, Elizabeth Nesi, Tibor Zana, at the School of American Ballet, the Limon Institute (Alan Danielson) and the Cunningham Studio, among others. Degrees conferred: MFA, University of Utah; MA, University of Wisconsin-Madison; BA Mathematics, Binghamton University.
