It was a great weekend in Freiburg, Germany. The Festival brought together over 150 stone carvers from 15 different countries. There were carvers of all levels of expertise, and though pretty focused on creating the winning design the carvers had time to socialize and circulate. Ongky chose to work on a mask/face surrounded by vegetation similar in form to a green man motif. At the end of Sunday evening the judging was in full swing and so was the party...Ongky a little distracted from the effort and some beer nearly missed his name being called out as the 1st Prize winner. A wonderful end to a fine weekend. The prize means a huge amount to him, working mainly in Bali and the Isle of Man he has had little contact with the varied cultures represented at the festival and how the art of carving is so valued in different countries. Thanks to all!
