Paulo Alegria, aka Paulgi, was born in Portugal, in 1970. At age 20 he moved north to study graphic design and advertising and later graduated from EPOA (Vila Nova de Cerveira's Professional Art School). To further develop his techniques and broaden his knowledge in the graphic design arts he studied at S. João da Madeira's Art Centre, Gallaecia Art School, Corporate Science College in Porto and also at Viana do Castelo's Post-graduate Teacher’s College.
Although his capabilities in more traditional image art forms (such as serigraphy, film photography, metal gravure and other more traditional design techniques) have been noted and published in his early work, digital image processing and photography has become his tools of trade. Paulgi has been living and working as a freelance designer in Viana do Castelo, since 1994, where he built his own studio, named ACIDesign.
